Reminiscing

What was the first story you wrote?

I started writing pretty early on, creating newspapers out of magazine clippings to hand out to my family, making a printed newsletter for my friends every month, and writing amateur songs here and there.

But my first real story, I started writing when I was 12. And it ended up being 34,000 words long. It was about two sisters who lived on a horse rescue in Nevada. (Wholly inspired by my favorite series growing up by Terri Farley). Among their numerous escapades, they solved mysteries, captured outlaws, found lost horses, saved wild mustangs, and discovered gold. This project became a 6 book series, with four other books planned before I decided to quit. I was young and thought they were absolutely amazing…

I could barf they were so bad🥴, but in the moment, my love for writing was fierce and I had STORIES to tell. From there, I continued writing SO many of those stories. I had a wild amount of wips and I can’t imagine how many words they are all combined. But they won’t ever see the light of day. (YOULL HAVE TO PRY FROM THE CRISPY HANDS OF MY DRIED CORPSE IF YOU WANT THEM)

It wasn’t until 2019 that I began writing my current work in progress. The Scars We Bear (previously called Alondra of Moore) is a novel I’m proud of. And I’m hoping to publish some time this year.

I’m 20 now. I hope 12 year old Adeline is proud.

With still many stories to share,

Adeline

You just awakened a long-buried memory of 7-year-old me creating my own newspapers out of rubber stamps with the most inane content imaginable. I’m not sure whether to be grateful or horrified.
